Personal Support Workers (PSWs)
Location: Mississauga, ON
Position Type: Full-Time & Part-Time Opportunities Available
Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on experience
Role Overview:
As a PSW at Avanda Cares, you will work directly with youth aged 12–21 in our licensed group home setting. You will provide daily support in areas such as hygiene, nutrition, routines, medication assistance, and emotional regulation. This role is ideal for caring, consistent professionals who want to help youth feel safe and empowered in their day-to-day lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with personal hygiene and daily living activities
- Support structured routines and life skills development
- Build trusting, trauma-informed relationships with youth
- Participate in safety planning and crisis de-escalation
- Maintain documentation and communication with team members
Qualifications:
- PSW certification or equivalent experience in a youth support or caregiving role
- Experience with trauma-informed care or vulnerable populations is an asset
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Ability to pass background checks and meet CYFSA compliance standards
Registered Mental Health Nurse
Location: Mississauga, ON
Position Type: Full-Time (Flexible Scheduling Possible)
Compensation: To be discussed; salary commensurate with experience
Role Overview:
We are seeking a Registered Mental Health Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team. In this role, you’ll provide on-site mental health support, medication management, and crisis intervention for youth in care. This is a key position in ensuring each youth receives proactive, personalized mental health care in a trauma-sensitive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct mental health assessments at intake and ongoing intervals
- Coordinate and monitor psychiatric care and treatment plans
- Provide therapeutic support through psychoeducation, group sessions, and one-on-one check-ins
- Oversee safe administration and monitoring of medications
- Respond to mental health crises using de-escalation and clinical expertise
- Collaborate with internal social workers, education liaisons, and external service providers
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN or RPN) with current license in Ontario
- Specialized experience in adolescent mental health, trauma, or residential care
- Skilled in crisis intervention, clinical documentation, and multidisciplinary coordination
- Strong interpersonal and cultural competency skills
- Must meet screening requirements under CYFSA and MCCSS licensing
